Patagonia & Andes between Santiago & Ushuaia
OR VICE
VERSA

OVERVIEW

23 days between Ushuaia and Santiago or vice versa...

Overlanding is the best way to see South America by far! Dragoman have been leading the way in South American overland expeditions since 1990, so take advantage of our years of experience and come with us as we include all the must-see attractions as well as heading to some unique hidden gems, well away from the usual tourist trail. This is an epic overland adventure through one of our favourite areas of the world - Patagonia. It's perfect for those who love the outdoors, with plenty of camping in national parks of outstanding natural beauty, and the chance to trek, climb, bike, and horse ride through some truly breathtaking scenery. You'll also have the chance to experience the elegant capital of Chile, beautifully set amongst the mountains, and travel all the way to the remote Argentinian town of Ushuaia, the southernmost town in the world! From Santiago we visit the spectacular Lake District towns of Bariloche and Pucón, which are packed full of optional outdoor activities and are a paradise for adventurers! We then journey south on the stunning Carretera Austral to the wild and desolate land of Patagonia, a legendary place that contains some of the most incredble vistas on the planet. Overlanding through the region, we will explore the magnificent Los Glaciares National Park from both El Calafate and El Chaltén, allowing us to trek around the dramatic peaks of Mount Fitz Roy and take a guided trip to the colossal Perito Moreno Glacier. In Chile you'll head to one of the absolute highlights of the trip - the awe-inspiring Torres del Paine National Park, where there will be plenty of time to trek and explore the breathtaking landscapes. Finally, we will cross the Strait of Magellan and head through this vast and wild region to the end of the earth - Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. Join us on this incredible and unforgettable overlanding experience!

We had three leaders for this group - our fearless leader was always informed us well on what was happening the next day and good at organizing the additional activities and making sure they ran smoothly.
Simon s - - 4th June 2015
I loved the trip and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves hiking in the mountains. However you need to be prepared to rough it a bit and ready for some long days driving!

Francesca H - - 4th June 2015
Guides at Torres del Paine were very friendly.
Francesca H - - 4th June 2015
This was my fourth trip with Dragoman, and I thoroughly enjoyed this trip and would highly recommend it (although the Lima to La Paz trek is going to take some beating!).
Simon s - - 4th June 2015
The crew worked very well together.
Howard R - - 4th June 2015
We used Mauricio and Sebastian for the Torres del Paine W walk (I also paid for the full extension). Both of them were fantastic and worked well with our group. Proper lead and trail techniques were used to make sure everyone could walk at their pace and that no one was lost, great knowledge of the area and trails. A complete pleasure to have had them leading us those 4 days.
Ricardo M - - 4th June 2015
Cameron was spectacular, I really liked the few times we were able to take advantage of the roof jump seats. The space was comfortable (especially considering that we were 20+ people!).
Ricardo M - - 4th June 2015
I have taken G Adventure trips and Intrepid trips in the past, and I absolutely loved Dragoman! The ability to see the changing landscapes on this trip was worth the price alone. The crew, Noel, Kate and Jacopo, were amazing - they were knowledgeable, handled unseen circumstances exceedingly well, and most importantly took the time to get to know me. So when I asked for a free day recommendation, it was my personal recommendation and not some general do-whatever speech.
Ricardo M - - 4th June 2015
All three members of the crew brought unique strong elements. Noel was the main driver and he really looked after the truck. Kate made sure we were where we were supposed to be, and devoted a lot of time to problem solving and providing great free-day and activity recommendations. Jacopo was definitely the most vocally enthusiastic person on the crew and spoke the strongest Spanish of the group, an invaluable resource in South America. I never felt like I wasted money on any activity they suggested. The 3 crew members combined all worked to make my experience extremely enjoyable and worth repeating.
Ricardo M - - 4th June 2015
Noel was a very good driver and maintained the vehicle with competence.
Roger P - - 4th June 2015
All the crew were great and from what we could see Jacopo, Noel and Kate made a great team. For a lot of us we felt we were really lucky to have them as it was a key part in our enjoyment of our time on Cameron.
Will S - - 4th June 2015
The crew was nice and made the trip a success.
Monique V - - 4th June 2015
The local guides in Torres del Paine were fantastic.
Megan D - - 4th June 2015
The crew, Julie and Nick, were professional, friendly, hardworking, and considerate. I am very pleased with both of them.
Thomas D - - 4th June 2015
Vehicle was well stocked with equipment, tents are a good size and able to cope with Patagonian weather conditions fairly easily.
Claire T - - 4th June 2015
Overall a great trip, weather was rubbish but that can't be helped. Still had a great time and thought the leaders were great at lifting spirits and still trying to make sure we had the best trip that we could.
Claire T - - 4th June 2015
Vikki was really good - everything was always organised - accommodation, excursions etc. She gave plenty of information on what was happening and what our options were, and at the right time so we weren't overloaded.
Susan R - - 4th June 2015
All leaders were great. Oli in particular was very good at staying cheerful and positive and helping to lift spirits on the day that it rained continuously all afternoon and evening.
Claire T - - 4th June 2015
We had local guides on our W trek in Torres del Paine (Justin and Nico) and they were both knowledgeable and helpful.
Hanne G - - 4th June 2015
Local guides were excellent, especially during the W trek. Very informative, and kept us enthusiastic about the whole trip.
Nabhan R - - 4th June 2015
Guides in Torres del Paine were very enthusiastic and helpful.
Eline M - - 4th June 2015
All the local guides were excellent. Especially Nico & Justin in Torres Del Paine.
Savannah M - - 4th June 2015
Julie is a excellent leader with incredible organizational skills. Nick is a wonderful driver and outstanding mechanic!
Gregory G - - 4th June 2015
Julie and Nick were both excellent leaders, able to keep up the spiritis of the group and deal with any problems which arose.
Adrienne S - - 4th June 2015
Julie did an amazing job taking care of all the practical stuff and giving us all the information we needed. Her contagious smile and positivism made me feel comfortable from the first moment we met. Together with Hannah and Nick, she formed a dynamic team that was responsible for an awesome trip.
Stephanie G - - 4th June 2015
The guides on the W trek were very good
Michael W - - 4th June 2015
I liked the tents, that are easy to set up and are strong enough to handle the strong winds in Patagonia. And it was nice to have all the cooking equipment we needed in the truck.
Stephanie G - - 4th June 2015
Julie and Nick were awesome! They worked long hours to make this a wonderful trip!
Gregory G - - 4th June 2015
Reasonable price, amazing itinerary and professional (and pretty cool!) crew.
Stephanie G - - 4th June 2015
Amazing, high calibre crew. Fantastic journey.
ROBERT S - - 4th June 2015
I enjoyed the concept of a tour where everybody has to chip in a little bit as it brings everyone closer together.
Lindsey W - - 4th June 2015
The crew of Jules and Nick worked extremely well together - they gel together seemlessly and both have a wonderful way of "being" with the group.
Colin L - - 4th June 2015
Truck, tents and other camping equipment in good condition.
Georg S - - 4th June 2015
Had an excellent fun packed trip that was made because our leaders were so friendly, willing to help and organised; and because the excellent fellow travellers on the trip.
Natalie G - - 4th June 2015
Both crew were co-operative, obliging, and competent. A dream-team!
Georg S - - 4th June 2015
Our leaders Julie, Nick and Hannah were all super friendly, helpful and professional. By the end of the trip we all considered he leaders as much our friends and the other travellers. They added to the excellent group rapport.
Natalie G - - 4th June 2015
Ambitious, nice, sharing people - just excellent!
Mirja N - - 4th June 2015
We had 2 local guides for w walk. Both were professional and experienced in their roles.
Natalie G - - 4th June 2015
The truck has quite some leg space, and the space in the truck is used very efficiently. The tents were also good -they were not too difficult to set up and break down, which we had to do a lot of times, so pretty important!
Monique V - - 4th June 2015
We had quite a lot different nationalities in the group, which I really liked.
Monique V - - 4th June 2015
- New Zealand - 1st June 2010
- Australia - 1st June 2010
