Itinerary

Day 1 - Zanzibar ( 15th Oct 2018 )

Border Information: If joining at Zanzibar, you will most likely enter Tanzania from Zanzibar Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (IATA code: ZNZ).

There will be an informal meet-and-greet and orientation of Stone Town with our local Zanzibar guide at 6:00pm - please meet at the reception of the joining hotel at this time if you wish to take part in this orientation. Please note that you will not usually meet your regular Dragoman crew tonight, as they will be arriving in Dar es Salaam this evening and will travel to Zanzibar with members of their previous group tomorrow.

Please note that many of the options listed below will only be possible for those with extra time in Zanzibar before the start of your trip with us - please contact the Sales team if you would like to book pre-tour accommodation with us to have extra time exploring Zanzibar.

In Stone Town we will stay in a good local hotel.

Please note that the first 4 days of this section overlap with our "YND - Nairobi to Zanzibar" trip, so some of the group that come to Zanzibar will leave before we take the ferry to Dar es Salaam. This is because Zanzibar is part of both trips, so it means customers going all the way through do not follow our Zanzibar itinerary twice!

Day 2 - Zanzibar ( 16th Oct 2018 )

Today will be a free day to explore Stone Town, the atmospheric old town on the exotic and beautiful island of Zanzibar!

Your Dragoman crew will arrive on Zanzibar this afternoon, and there will be an important meeting at 6:00pm at the joining hotel - there will then be the option going for sunset drinks at Africa House and heading out to the night markets for a local dinner.

WHAT OUR PASSENGERS SAY

Every day was just exciting and amazing! The crew gave us lots of direction about what time we needed to be up/out for activities and always let us know what we needed to know for that certain area.
Dominic B
It was a really good trip.
Nadia P
The canoeing trip over the Zambezi river and the two nights wildcamping were the highlight.
Eline J
We enjoyed the 2-day long canoeing the most and safari. Also the village tour at Kande Beach including the school and hospital.
Kate N
The whole trip was brilliant! We did such a wife variety of different activities and all the Dragoman crew were super friendly and helpful. Canoeing and wild camping down the Lower Zambezi was an experience I will never forget.
Sarah C
Well looked after by professional crew. There were a lot of extremely long driving days just getting from A-B. Once the roads improve the travel time will reduce - to visit all those places (with probably little places in between to visit) this is unavoidable The best times were when we had activities morning and afternoon with some time to relax in the middle (like at South Lwanga NP and canoeing the Zambezi
Sarah R
I had a fantastic trip. The dragoman team were all exceptional.
Katherine H
It was fantastic! I had the time of my life!
Jack F
Enjoyed most kayaking on the Zambezi river, Vic falls and Zanzibar but would have liked a little bit more time to have less driving days maybe.
Emma B
The trip was enjoyable, a real experience and well led. There were some long and tiring days of travel but overall it was excellent fun.
James W
Next trip will be less driving. But apart from the driving an unforgettable trip! Amazing people, landscape and animals of course!
Leslie M
Great experience. Had a very easy going and flexible tour guide, made things easy for us all.
Erin S
I have taken three trips with Dragoman and always a positive and excellent experience. I always consider Dragoman for my travels especially when overlanding. Excellent tour leaders, drivers and cooks, the itineraries are detailed and encompass so much and the experience itself driving in the truck is always unforgettable. Love the entire experience!
Petrucia S
Everything was very well organized and the group although large was nicely integrated.
Antoinette V
On the whole I enjoyed my first experience overlanding with Dragoman.
Shoshana G
Lovely cook, great fun to work with, food could have been a little lighter on carbs!
Antoinette V
Andy was a gentleman, good company, reassuring and safe. Tom took time to be interested in each traveller as individuals. Good fun to be around and always polite and helpful.
Samantha S
Daniel was informative and hospitable...loved seeing his home and family in Zanzibar, a real highlight!
Samantha S
All drivers on safaris knew exactly where to find the animals and were helpful and friendly.
Patricia P
Brilliant cook, very helpful and nice.
Jana P
Charles and Denford were both fantastic and Charles really went the extra mile to make everyone very happy and took care of one of passengers when she was ill and couldn't come to Zanzibar.
Zoe P
Charles is a fantastic cook and also acted as an additional co leader during the trip. I felt he went above a beyond to help everyone (including the leaders) on the trip.
Robin L
Our cook Mash is amazing!
Roelof O
A great team! Helpful, funny, looking out for us.
