Jeroen (Dutchie) has been on the road with us since October 2015, we asked a few probing questions about life on the road with Dragoman...     Why did you become Dragoman crew? I had been travelling for a while and couldn't get used to being back home and someone told me this job would suit me. And it does!! What’s your favourite destination and why? Mongolia as I think it's still true overlanding there with lots of bush camps, river crossings, roads that you dont know where they go. I must say that Namibia is a close 2nd as the diversity in this country…

Our overland tours are a bit different to your "regular" group tour. Each one of our trips has been assigned a 'physical rating' out of 5, this is to help you to select the right trip for you.   To help clarify we've explained what each rating means below;   5 out of 5 The tour will contain longer periods of camping and will spend extended periods of time in challenging/changeable weather conditions/environments.   4 out of 5 More days spent camping than in hotels, with occasional periods in challenging environments/weather conditions.   3 out of 5 Mixture of hotels and camping during…

Julie has been on the road with us since September 2013, we asked a few probings questions about life on the road with Dragoman...     Why did you become Dragoman crew? I love to travel, and experience new places and cultures.  What’s your favourite destination and why? That's hard because each destination has its own impact on you.   Patagonia definately holds a place in my heart for beautiful landscapes. Argentina also has the best steak in the world, and the red wine is pretty good!    India is full of so much culture, you can see every aspect of life laid…

Welcome to French Guiana! The tiny country at the top of Brazil makes up one of the trio that forms the Guianas, along with Suriname and Guyana. An enclave of France, it is still an overseas department and uses the Euro and of course, the official language is French.   With a cosmopolitan capital and mix of idyllic beaches and undisturbed rainforest, this is a special place for any avid traveller. Top 5 Experiences;   Sail out to Devils Island the site of the infamous penal colony that was brought to the worlds attention by the hugely succesful book 'Papillion'. The…

As one of the trio of small countries located in the North East of Brazil, Guyana is unique in that it is the only English speaking country in South America.   The capital Georgetown houses a number of incredible architectural treasures from St George’s Cathedral, reputedly the tallest wooden building in the world at 143ft to The High Court, which has a rather battered statue of Queen Victoria outside, The Stabroek Market is also an interesting building, first designed to be a railway station, but following the removal of the railway line (it was sold to Nigeria after independence) it was…

We started overlanding back in 1981 with one truck and one route which went from the UK through the Sahara and into Central and West Africa. Since then we have gone from strength to strength. Our trucks may have changed a little but the essence of overlanding is still very much with us. Pushing the boundaries of overland travel to give our passengers an unforgettable experience. The fleet is now 26 strong, travelling through Africa, Asia and the Americas.  This season we are introducing new routes through northern Brazil, Suriname, Guyana and French Guiana. As well as launching our Trans-Africa trip which is us…

Our Destination Manager, Helen, got to experience our new Kilimanjaro trek earlier on this year. Here's her story of her climb to success...   ‘Jambo’ calls one of the porters as he walks past, loaded up with bags and equipment, balanced perfectly on his head.   The mountain creates the major source of employment for people living in the towns surrounding Mt Kilimanjaro and the porters, cooks and guides that work here, make the most of it.  Around camp they joke, banter and dance around as they put up tents and prepare food, there’s a great atmosphere here.     Mt…
