trip styles

One style of journey doesn't suit everyone. Our trips come in five different guises tailored to offer passengers different experiences. Escape, Discover, Encounter, Family and Ultimate Overland. They vary from a comfortable 'see it all at your leisure' longer journeys to shorter 'see as much as you can' in a two to three weeks time frame.

Want to find out which style would suit you best? Look at the trip styles below to find out more:

discover discover style trips

Ain't no mountain high enough or ancient ruin remote enough. The Discover trip has wonderful sights, many different destinations and a variety of journey lengths, some as short as 2 weeks. Riding in the comfort of a purpose built Classic Dragoman Overland truck with two or three crew members and a mix of hotel stays and camping. You'll get well off the beaten track to see areas crucial to the understanding of a country as well as the highlights. There'll be the chance to help out with community projects and try new activities while discovering a new world. Short or long, these trips give you their all.

encounter encounter style trips

The wind in your hair and flies in your teeth. The authentic overland adventure, if you're a younger traveller on a budget. Go to remote corners of the world in a rugged truck with 90% of stops spent sleeping 'under the stars' at bush camps. One leader, so you're expected to muck in with this trip. A more flexible, relaxed itinerary where you decide what you want to do, how you spend your budget and what you see. You can leave the truck on your own excursion and catch up with it a few days later. The true adventurer life. Think 'Dr Livingstone' in a big truck.

escape escape style trips

If you're planning a quick getaway, then try an action packed two to four week taster trip in a Classic Dragoman Overland truck. This is great if you have time constraints but still want to see as much as possible. It's also a good introduction to overland life with whether staying completely in hotels, a mix of hotels and camping or mainly camping. With two or three crew, (someone even cooks for you in most of Africa) and local guides along the way, this is a great way to see all the highlights if you're pushed for time. It's a holiday package without the packaged holiday.

ultimate ultimate style trips

This is the “oh my god, lets make a road movie” mother of all journeys. If you've got the time then we've got the transcontinental. This way you'll get to see a continent or two by combining trip sections together. This is for the serious traveller prepared to put all their effort into seeing the world and doesn't mind leaving the hum-drum of everyday life behind. Includes a good mix of bush camping and hotels. It can be tough going, but it's worth every minute for the die-hard traveller.
