notes:

General notes: This trip can be combined with our Sounds of the Sahara (XFD) trip. We can provide you with a half week transfer on our truck relocation between Nouakchott and Bamako. There will be a local payment of US$75 for this transfer paid to the tour leader.

The route driving alongside the railway to Nouadibou may not be feasible and we may take a slightly different route, this section is an exploratory trip for 2007.

This is desert exploration at its finest. In the true nature of our discover style overland travel we will not stick to the tarmac roads as most overland companies will do, but with our 4 wheel drive West Africa vehicle, we will travel overland and over dune deep into the Sahara to the oasis towns of Chinguetti and Ouadane Oasis. Adventure travel does not get better than this for the hard core adventure traveller. Camel rides, tiny oases, meteor craters and mile upon mile of raw desert; nomads, mountains, stunning landscapes and total utter silence. A Saharan overland is not for everyone, it is not a Sahara adventure holiday, it can be tough and it can be uncomfortable, but it is a wonderful experience if this is your bag. But unlike any other desert adventure, we even drive the thin divide between the ocean and the desert. Along the Mauritanian coast we will travel for 3 days along the sandy beaches where the dunes plunge down to the waves of the Atlantic. This is a trip for the adventurous.

The Sahara provides a unique experience, but also pushes the boundaries of adventure tours and you must be aware that there are risks attached to travelling in the Sahara.
