Overland between Lima & Cusco vi... (LLI)

From: $5725 + Kitty

Overview

88 days between Lima and Cusco

Overlanding from Lima to Cusco would usually take you about 12 days if you wanted to see the country of Peru properly.  But Dragoman have made a 13 week version, which involves going across to Urugay, up to Rio and finally a journey across the width of the Amazon Jungle. Well why not?!...it seems a good idea to us because then you get to see the whole continent, and not just the Inca Heartland.

On this trip we stop in Rio for Carnival which is known as the greatest party on earth - an amazing spectacle of colour and costumes set to the sultry sounds of samba music. It's a once in a lifetime experience, joining thousands of Cariocas in a six-day frenzy of dancing and celebration. We arrange much sought after tickets to the Sambadrome and also can arrange optional excursions to Corcovado (the Christ the Redeemer Statue) and to Sugar Loaf Mountain.

This jungle journey really is totally unique as the Amazon road has only just been opened. It allows us to link the jungles of Peru around Puerto Maldonado, with the Amazon of Brazil. Add to this two 3 night stays in South America's other ecological wonderland, Brazil's vast Pantanal swamplands and you have one of the most in-depth forest overland trip ever. Then of course we have the national parks and mountains of Argentina's and of course Rio Carnival. What more could you ask for?
