The Greek tale of Jason and the Argonauts has been told for 3,000 years, now you can follow a piece of this history on this Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan adventure. Beginning in Turkey’s mesmerizing capital, Istanbul you’ll overland though Cappadocia, visiting the underground cities of the Goreme valley before heading north east to Sumela, skirting the Black Sea before crossing over to Georgia. You’ll discover the port town of Batumi, the ancient city of Kutaisi and the history of Gori, to Georgia’s charming capital, Tbilisi. From here you'll cross over to Azerbaijan, an often misunderstood destination where you’ll stay overnight in the atmospheric regional town of Sheki, spend a few days exploring the cosmopolitan Azeri capital, Baku and cross the Caspian Sea over to Turkmenistan. You’ll spend some time in Turkmenbashi, explore the underground lake of Kow Ata Lake before ending this trip in the surreal city of Ashgabat.
