Starting in Rio we'll have time to discover this vibrant city before we head inland to Ouro Preto. We'll drive to the wetlands of the Pantanal, then travel deep into the Amazon on a boat trip to Manaus. After time exploring the jungle we overland across the Gran Sabana plateau heading for the River Orinoco and the border with Venezuela. There's the option of taking a trip to Angel Falls, highest in the world, then we tour the Llanos wetlands, home to anaconda and caiman. We'll travel across Venezuela, heading for the Andean town of Merida, before turning north and ending this amazing journey on the shores of the Caribbean.

Week 5: Santa Elena & the Gran Sabana

• Travel through the edges of the protected Waimiri Indian Reserve
• Time in Santa Elena to explore gold panning areas or prepare to go trekking
• Overland across the Gran Sabana, one of the oldest plateaux on earth
• Visit the beautiful Kama Meru and Jasper Waterfalls

Week 6: Ciudad Bolivar & Angel Falls

• Explore the waterfront city of Ciudad Bolivar on the banks of the Rio Orinoco
• Relax by the pool of an authentic Venezuelan Posada
• Time for optional trips to Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world

Week 7: Los Llanos, Merida & Henri Pittier NP

• 2 night exploration into Los Llanos wetlands in search of anaconda and caiman
• Time for optional adrenaline activities in the Andean city Merida
• Experience the beautiful en route drive through Henri Pittier National Park

Week 8: Puerto Colombia & Caracas

• Stay on the Caribbean coast at Puerto Columbia
• Arrive in bustling Caracas, capital of Venezuela
