For Dragoman Overland Adventure Travel, the Inca Trail is more than just a Peru trekking tour, it is a chance for us to work along a local community and involve them in our style of Peru trekking tour. On all our overland adventure travel trips that feature Peru trekking, Machu Picchu is the main goal but our Inca Trail will include our Peru Quechua Community Project

However, if you travel with Dragoman Overland Adventure Travel, you will get a choice of which Inca Trail you want to do, our very own unique Inca Trail Peru Community Project, or the Classic Inca Trail.

So which one should you choose? Most people go for the Classic Inca Trail, as this is what thir mates have done and the one that is most famous. We would certainly recommend that you to trek our Inca Trail Peru Community Project instead but the choice is yours. The important thing is that you DO have a choice of which Inca Trail Peru has to offer and you are not being forced to take one or the other.

After six months of running our new Inca Trail Peru Community Project, we are really proud to see what a huge success it has become. The groups love the trekking, the awesome scenery and the fact that they are totally alone and not crowded by tourists (the trail is totally unique to Dragoman Overland Adventure Travel). But best of all is the actual -and potential - benefits to the local community. This is a real community project and is a must for all visitors to Peru. Through this kind of well thought out adventure travel Peru and its local Indian communities can get real benefits from its foreign visitors.

Dragoman Overland Adventure Travel Trips featuring the Inca Trail

This Inca Trail really is a breath of fresh air, in more ways than one. We could go on trying to persuade you that it is a far better experience than the Classic Inca Trail, but it is easier to let our past travellers tell their own story. Yes, in any Peru trekking tour, Machu Picchu is certainly an absolute must, but for our travellers, it's how you get there that really counts.

Also check out these blogs from recent travellers. To give a balanced view we have included one with some critisism about the levels of interaction with the locals in the community. This is something that we are working on at the monent. Please, please read on to the very end and see his final glowing summary.

Trekking and the local community

After over a year of running this Peru trekking tour, the benefits are clear for all to see. We do need to go far further, but there is no doubt that with the right attitude, an adventure travel company, like Dragoman Overland Adventure Travel working with their local partners, (Andina Travel) and with their travellers help, can make a real difference. It is so important that the local community gains from your and our visits. They must be involved.
