Llanos
The vast Llanos lies at the very heart of Venezuela, spiritually and geographically. These flat grass lands cover an area of 300,000 sq. kms between the Andes and the Orinoco Delta, almost a third of the entire country. This is Venezuela's wild west. A mythologised land of hardy Llanero cowboys driving massive herds of cattle across ranches the size of small European countries. Using Los Barriga as our starting point we will venture out to La Llanos (The Plains). We will have three days to explore this remarkable area by boats and truck. We should witness some of the more famous animals and reptiles of South America. Anacondas, capybara, crocodiles, deer, snakes and a plethora of bird life are in abundance throughout the area. All our meals are prepared for us and traditional entertainment is offered to finish up a hard days exploring. Bedding down in your hammock, listening to the sounds of nature as you record the day’s events in your diary is a story that most people will be jealous of.
