Caracas

Caracas is often described as a concrete jungle of a city. It has been developed with the help of petro-dollars and is a dynamic and bustling city with massive traffic problems. However, Caracas also has many excellent nightclubs and restaurants. During the day you could visit the birthplace of Simon Bolivar (El Liberador), the South American hero who, aided by 5000 British ex Peninsular war veterans, liberated half the continent from Spanish rule. You may wish to visit El Hatillo, a small town that has now been absorbed into the sprawling city. It still has a good deal of its colonial architecture remaining intact, or restored that gives the town a pleasant and inviting experience. There's also a plethora of galleries and craft shops to enjoy.
